I decided last April that I wanted to do a two tone combination. I was determined to paint the bottoms gray and leave the tops wood. It was at least a compromise with my husband, who liked the way they are. Here is the result of that.
I left it alone for 1 year always second guessing my paint color choice. When the sunlight hit the bottom cabinets, they looked blue. I wanted a warm gray and this was anything but that.
So, days went by and I contemplated changing the bottom color. I told myself if I can take the trim and braided pieces off the cabinets I would repaint, If I couldn't I would suck it up and live with my poor choice of color. FYI, the color is ominous cloud from Ace. It is super pretty, but not in my kitchen.
Well boredom leads to curiosity so I took a pliers to the braided trim inlay and molding on the base of the top cabinets. They came off as if they knew I did not want them there. That was my answer. But first....I wanted a backsplash. I want, I want, I want. $$$$$$ is all my husband saw. SO. I did it myself.
Not to bad for a a first time tile job. All I wanted now was a different cabinet color. So I snapped my fingers and viola. Just kidding took me about 3 weeks to complete.
