{DIY} Painted Planter
Hey and Good Morning to you! It feels so good to sit down. I tell you, sometimes I get these urges to remodel, destroy, fix, and go crazy with the house projects. This weekend was that kind of weekend. So, stay tuned I have some great things coming your way, that just need a little bit of tweaking before they are ready for your viewing :) .
As you already know I have a plant obsession, more so succulents (I usually have better luck with them). Today I present to you painted planters.
Here's what you're are going to need:
=> Terra Cotta Planter, any size will do
=> Painters Tape
=> Acrylic Paint (I also used liquid gold leaf)
=> Sponge Brush
Next pick your pattern
Then fill in the areas you want painted. Super easy right?
That's all. ENJOY!
Here are a couple of ideas that I found that were super cute as well.

{Travel} Carry-On Plane Essentials
One of my favorite features to find on blogs or in magazines is an inside look into people's purse or carry-on bags. Whenever I read through people's travel essentials, I try to unlock their secrets to making travel a more seamless process. See the thing is...I love to travel and to experience new and familiar cities, but the getting there part is never my favorite. I'm a notorious over-packer (although I like to think I'm getting better) and I never fail to raise some sort of red-flag when going through security whether it's my laptop I left in my bag or some random metal on my body that sets off the detector.
Well, I actually already made it here:
My oh-so-amazing-home-away-from-home yearly vacation spot in Anna Maria Island, Florida. Luckily, we had a direct flight and were able to avoid the dreaded Atlanta airport layover this time. Our three hour flight was just perfect and I wanted to share with you what helped me through it (I'm a very anxious flyer).

{DIY} String Art
Hello Y'all! Happy Monday.
Boy do I have a project for you. It is super easy and fun. And according to a great friend, therapeutic. Shall we get started?
+Supplies+
-Piece of wood, size, shape, thickness, it doesn't matter
-Nails (1/2 in- 3/4 in)
-String-any color will do
-Hammer
-Tape
-Printed picture
-Stain
If you need to cut your wood down into a certain size do that first. You can sand it then and stain it with whatever you choose. I chose Teak Oil, I really like the look of the natural wood grain in this piece so I wanted to keep it close to that.
Once your piece of wood is ready to go you are going to want to find a picture or words that you want to string. I chose a rhino, why? I don't know. I was feeling the rhino (maybe Teagan had a slight say) and thought that it would look pretty cute.
Cut out the silhouette of your image and place it on your board. Secure it with tape.
Begin hammering nails along the edge of your silhouette spacing them apart as you wish. I chose about 1/4-1/2 inch and closer in the more detailed areas.
Once you have the nails the way you like and completely outlining your silhouette rip the paper off. Be careful not to take the nails out. (**Take a picture of your silhouette nailed to your board with your phone so you can reference the order of nails in the detailed areas)
To start the string you are going to want to make a knot around one of the nails. Once you have done that begin to wrap your string around the silhouette creating your outline.
Now that you have your outline down continue with the string going randomly back and forth (this is the therapeutic part) until you have filled in your picture to your liking. There is no need to cut your string and start over. You simply just continue until you have finished your image.

{DIY} Sharpie Mugs For Our NEW Salon Space!!
One of the most popular crafting trends right now is to use a Sharpie marker to add designs to mugs. {I’m sure you’ve seen them all over Pinterest, just like we have!} There are tons of swoon-worthy sharpie mug designs and ones that replicate high-end store mugs. OH, yes you read the title right- HEIDI AND I ARE MOVING SALONS AS OF MARCH 1st!!! We are super excited about the opportunity (I'm sure you can tell!) To all of our amazing clients: we will be sending you a detailed letter about our salon move super soon, we can not wait for all of you to see our cute new space.
- Buy some white cups or mugs. You can find them in superstores, thrift stores, dollar stores, and online.
- Pick a sharpie. For long-lasting results, choose oil-based paint sharpie markers. Regular sharpie ink can come off even after baking. Pick a color to use on your mug. You can stay simple and choose one color, or be more ambitious and use multiple. If you're sticking to one color, then black is usually a good choice, given its striking contrast to the white background of the mug.
- Start drawing. Decide what you want to put on the cup, and maybe practice drawing it on a piece of paper before drawing on the mug. Pick a meaningful quote or a cute graphic to decorate the mug with, and get inspired on Pinterest or by googling examples of sharpie mug projects online.
4. Dry it out. Let your mug dry for a few hours or overnight before placing it into the oven. You can also draw over it again if you'd like to make sure the pattern doesn't come off in the wash. If you draw over it again, be sure to leave it out to dry again before baking.
5. Bake it. Bake the mug in the oven for 30 minutes at 400 degrees. Remember to place the mug in the oven before it heats up and leave it in until the oven cools completely so there won't be any cracks. You can choose to bake the mugs twice to really set in the sharpie drawings.
6. Care and wash. Hand wash the mug gently instead of throwing it in the dishwasher, as a machine washer may ruin the design.
