{Hair} 8 Days Without Shampoo

Take a moment and think, "when was the last time I washed my hair?" If you said this morning, are you planning on washing it tomorrow? If you said yesterday, are you also going to wash it today? If your answer is yes, please continue reading! It will be vital information and save you some serious time in the morning while giving you healthier hair. If your answer is no, pat yourself on the back and picture us standing in front of you clapping and jumping up and down with excitement.

So look at the title "8 days without shampoo". Is that scary? or gross? Well it shouldn't be. It's what the two of us are doing week after week and month after month. It's the first question we ask our clients when they sit in our chair and their responses are probably similar to what you're thinking.  HOW ON EARTH ARE YOU DOING THIS? DOESN'T YOUR HAIR SMELL?

The answer is easy: DRY SHAMPOO. It can be bought at every beauty store, salon, and convenience store. It can run you anywhere from $6 to $30 plus. They make colored dry shampoo for brunettes, red heads, and have white-ish spray for blondes (however, some of the 'white' sprays work awesome on brunette hair as well!). No, this is not another product that a hairstylist recommends to you that will just be shoved into your bathroom cabinet and join the other products collecting dust. This will be your no. 1 go to product.

There are 4 easy steps. Are you ready?

Step 1: Choose your dry shampoo. Some of our favorites are Batiste, Psssst!, Bumble and Bumble, Rockaholic by TIGI, and SG invisible dry shampoo.

Step 2: part your hair on your part line.

Step 3: spray dry shampoo along part line and hairline and anywhere in between

Wait 30 seconds

Step 4: Brush your hair or run your fingers through it and shake it (if you are a brunette and using a white spray you will have to shake and/or brush a little bit more)

VoilĂ ! That is it! Easy right?

BONUS TIP FROM US TO YOU: Apply dry shampoo before going to bed. In your sleep you will do all the shaking and moving around that will get rid of that 'white' cast. Give it a quick brush through in the morning and you will have perfect, non-greasy hair!

Now comes the best part. Because you aren't washing your hair everyday, your scalp can produce the oil it needs to soften and add shine. Don't get us wrong, shampoo and conditioner are great in small doses- shoot for about once or twice a week! Shampoo is constantly clarifying your hair taking away its healthy oils causing hair to become dry. Yes, even your $50 bottle of shampoo can cause dry hair. The right combination and routine will get you the hair you crave and dream about. That is not to say go out and buy the cheapest shampoo available because that no longer matters, that does matter, especially if you color your hair. If you feel like your hair color fades, dry shampoo is for you. If you feel like you are lacking volume, dry shampoo is for you. If you want to sleep 10 minutes longer, dry shampoo is for you. If you have hair on your head, this product is for you. Period.

So do us a favor go get yourself a bottle, try it out. If you don't like it try another brand. We promise you'll find one that will be a life saver!

Lastly, comment below and let us know how many days you have gone without shampooing.

Milwaukee Home

Hey Guys! We are so excited to share our little blog with you. Our posts will range anywhere from Goodwill treasures and upcycles, to step-by-step hairstyle how-to's! But first, we wanted to share a little about our wonderful place we call home: Milwaukee, Wisconsin. What's the first thing that comes to mind for you when you think of Wisconsin? Most likely its cheese, cows, farms...wait, where is Wisconsin?! Well, we're in the Midwest, and Milwaukee actually is a really freakin' cool city. Also, we're the 22nd largest city in the country! We're that cool.
Our famous art museum (as seen in the movie Bridesmaids!)
Our tropical non-tropical, beautiful Lake Michigan beaches.
Milwaukee is a city full of 'locavores'. We love our local food, markets, festivals, hairsalons *cough*, and beer...like we really really like beer. We really enjoyed playing tourist of our own little city and are excited to be joining the Milwaukee and worldwide blogger community!
